New Build and Extensions

New build projects give us the opportunity to work with client's aspirations, budgets and practical requirements. We use traditional and natural building materials with a choice of additional ones such as straw and hempcrete. Whatever the size, our buildings are always designed with reference to the locality whether rural or urban and are site specific. We can provide the complete range of Architectural services from initial ideas to sketch designs, planning consent, building warrant and on-site contract management. Some of our clients are self-builders, and for them we can offer different levels of support from applying for planning permission and building warrant, through to a set of construction drawings and on-site advice.

A first floor sun-room extension on top of an existing garage. It is of Oak frame construction, has small eaves level windows and gable glazing allowing views to the South.

'Granny House'

This new Hemp-Lime house replaces a derelict croft house. The design concept has been to use the footprint of the existing house but enlarge it to the south and west. A separate block, which has been design as a potential 'granny flat', contains a utility room and library. It is linked to the main building by an entrance that allows direct access into a courtyard garden. The back northern elevation of the house re-creates a hard edge to the access track, and the curved western frontage helps to 'turn the corner'; into a farm courtyard.
